ARCHITECTURE

ONE17 have promoted innovative architecture and design since 1960, developing a distinct reputation for designing one-off private dwellings, a particular passion of partner Mark Lee, the practice deals with schemes of all kinds, from master planning to doctors surgeries, commercial and industrial projects, right through to highly specialist work in conservation areas and with historical buildings, the particular province of partner Stuart Beaumont.

Our fundamental concerns are with space, light and materials. When handled well, there will be pleasure in even the simplest scheme.

INTERIORS

Architectural design should stand on its own merit, but a good piece of architecture can be enhanced by skilled interior design.

We have a passion for and expertise in the design of bespoke homes for individual clients. We see these projects as total design exercises where the interiors are seamlessly integrated with the architecture. This will involve purpose designed fixtures and fittings by ONE17 and artisan partners and the sourcing of products and furniture from specialist makers around the globe.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Experience has taught us that if a design is to be fully realised there has to be someone acting as the co-ordinator between the client, the design team, the various suppliers, manufacturers and the construction team.

Project management sits alongside architectural design, interior design, and structural engineering to enable us to deliver the product that our client expects without it being compromised by the arcane practices of the construction industry.

Being part of the broader ONE17 team means the project manager has a clear grasp of what the final scheme should be and ensures the plan of work and the programme runs smoothly.

STRUCTURE

Working within the envelope of ONE17 allows economies of scale on projects where engineer and architect work together, a particularly effective and efficient collaborative approach.

ONE17 offers structural design services, drainage design, civil engineering services and can provide structural assessments and condition surveys under the direction of Michael Naughton B.Sc., C.Eng., M.I.C.E.

We have established a strong portfolio, working with private clients, major developers and undertaking consultancy services for other engineers. Engineering services are not restricted to our own architectural projects.

FURNITURE & HOMEWARE

DYEHOUSE was founded in 2015 by ONE17 partner, Mark Lee.

Designing first architecture, then interiors and now furniture has been a natural progression. This progression started with individual pieces for the award winning Round House through to large scale bespoke installations in the many one-off residential projects that have become Mark’s speciality.

The DYEHOUSE furniture and homeware collection takes Mark’s design philosophy and applies it rigorously to the full product range. Each design evolves from simple principles, using a material’s inherent qualities and features to characterise each and every item.

CHARITABLE TRUST

Since the Trust was launched in December 2010 we have now donated in excess of £200,000 to support a wide range of local charities, individuals in need and projects for young people. We also give in-kind business support to small charities and community groups and work with local schools to support projects that enrich the lives of young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Instead of an application form, we meet people , establish what is needed and how ONE17 might be able to help.

THE ONE17 MAGAZINE - NOTES

Launched in 2014, NOTES is our design and lifestyle magazine.

Created and largely written in-house, we wanted the magazine to give a broader insight into our general interests and to engage with a wider audience - the response has been phenomenal.

We now publish 12,000 copies of each issue and the magazine has become a collectors item.

NOTES is published twice a year in the Spring and Autumn and explores the world of design from a very particular perspective. We review and reveal the more refined aspects of life including architecture, interior design, landscape, travel, fashion, food and many others.

We work with collaborators and contributors in each issue, exploring a range of stories from close to our Yorkshire base to all over the globe.
