At One 17 Design we are passionate about the value of education and inspiring young people to succeed. It is for this reason that we were keen to become involved with our local high school – Newsome High School and Sports College.

Sponsorship of the 2011 Rock Challenge
Rock Challenge UK is a series of performing arts events, presented by the Be Your Best Foundation. It encourages young people to lead healthy lifestyles and to be their best without the need for tobacco, alcohol or other drugs. Log on to www.rockchallenge.co.uk
In addition to financial support, One 17 graphic designer Alan and education co-ordinator Caroline also enjoyed working with six students to design T-shirts for the Newsome team. During a morning workshop at One 17 Design, the pupils developed a design around the theme of their performance – The Tortured Artist – Van Gogh.
We were delighted to see the Newsome Team get through to the Northern Grand Final of this event and were blown away by the professionalism and quality of their performance in every respect – performance, production, drama and design – Wow! A positive, uplifting experience that we are delighted to have been involved with.”

Mock Interviews
Partner and Trustee, Kevin spent a morning at the school taking part in mock interviews to help prepare year 11 students for future employment.

Travel Bursary
As firm believers in the educational value of travel we are delighted to have set up an annual travel bursary that supports one student each academic year to take part in an overseas visit.
The bursary is intended for students who would benefit most in terms of personal development and achievement, and who have shown dedication and enthusiasm throughout the year.”
The 2011 Travel Bursary was awarded to a year 11 student, who enjoyed five days in Berlin with the History Department in February 2011.
The 2012 Travel Bursary will be award at the school presentation evening on 2nd December 2011.
